In order to live into our vision and mission, we offer many ways to get involved at Desert Spring. As you prayerfully consider the ways in which your unique gifts and talents can be used to serve God, ask yourself the following questions:

-what are my spiritual gifts? Each of us has unique gifts that we have been given to use in service and knowing what those gifts are is helpful as you seek a service role. If you are unfamiliar with spiritual gifts, you may want to consider participating in an upcoming Spiritual Gifts Discovery workshop.

-what are my passions? Is it assisting elderly, or children, or those in need…what peaks your interest? Are you happiest working behind the scenes or up front?

-what are my greatest concerns for my home, work, neighborhood and the world?

Coordinate a once a month fellowship night for our families.

Assemble food and toiletries bags for distribution to homeless.

Knitters
The prayer shawl ministry knits prayer shawls to give people for various occasions and events. Previous knitting experience is not necessary.

Life Strategies Team Member

Team members help those who would like guidance in making biblically based, sound and thoughtful financial decisions.

Provide a meal for Desert Spring folks who need temporary help due to bereavement, illness, etc.

Messengers

Provide a worship service for senior care facilities. Readers, singers, musicians, communion stewards, etc. are needed. Volunteers serve on a rotation basis.

Nurture Ministry Member
Members help care for the people of our church in need. Also needed are healthcare ministry volunteers to help with monthly blood pressure checks.

Pet Therapy Team
Owners and their dogs visit various facilities in order to provide support to emotionally fragile people.

Prayer Chain Member

Stephen Ministers
Stephen Ministers walk alongside folks who are in need of care due to job loss, grief, etc.

Weekend Emergency Assistance Program (WEAP) Food Pantry Volunteer and/or Team Leader
WEAP is recruiting weekend volunteers to supervise small teams at the pantries on S. Maryland Pkwy and Civic Center Drive locations. Volunteers serve once or twice a month.

Building Committee Member

Desert Spring is in the process of building a new sanctuary. The building committee works with the congregation and architect to satisfy the church’s needs.

Church Council is the governing body of the church. Committee reports are heard, issues discussed and visions for the future are cast.

Acolyte Program Helper for Tweens
Help the Acolyte Program Instructor to teach our Tweens (3rd grade and up) how to become an integral part of the Sunday morning worship services.

Children's Church Co-Leaders
The children of Desert Spring will spend the first 20 minutes of their Sunday worship experience together as leaders of their own chuirch. Adult co-leaders will help the children design and lead their program. Volunteers serve oin a rotating basis.

United Methodist Men (UMM) Member

United Methodist Men hold a monthly breakfast meeting where we plan our next adverture, service project, or ministry event to help men grow in Christ so that others may know Christ.

United Methodist Women (UMW) Member

United Methodist Women is a dynamic group of women who meet socially to work for various causes which focus on women, children, and youth locally and worldwide. Desert Spring hosts four different women's groups who meet at different times of the month. There is something for every age group.
